Mainstreet Wanganui was established in 1991 to promote and enhance Wanganui's central business district following an extensive refurbishment of the CBD. Businesses and building owners within the CBD area are automatically members of the Mainstreet Wanganui organisation contributing to a levy based on capital rating value. This levy pays for street maintenance, events and promotional activities. Mainstreet is a highly effective tool that gratly enhances the Wanganui CBD.
